ILLIT Teams Up with Hit Japanese Songwriters for New Single “I Got Your Back”

ILLIT is strengthening its presence in Japan with a brand-new Japanese single, and this time, the group is collaborating with some of the country’s most well-known music creators.

The girl group will digitally release its second Japanese single, “I Got Your Back,” on July 26, followed by a physical album on July 29.

What’s Included in the New Single?

The release consists of three tracks:

  • “I Got Your Back” (title track)
  • The Korean version of “I Got Your Back” (available exclusively on the physical album)
  • “Sunday Morning,” an anime OST that was previously released in January 2026

Yuika and Kanata Okajima Join the Project

One of the biggest highlights of the release is its impressive lineup of Japanese creators.

Singer-songwriter Yuika, best known for her viral hit “Sukidakara (Because I Like You),” wrote the lyrics for the title track. Her writing captures the delicate emotions and honest feelings of youth, matching ILLIT’s signature style.

The song was composed by Kanata Okajima, a renowned songwriter who has worked with global artists including BTS and Snow Man. His production brings a refreshing rock-inspired sound to ILLIT’s growing discography.

A Rock Track About Friendship and Support

Unlike many of ILLIT’s previous releases, “I Got Your Back” leans into a rock-based sound.

The song delivers a heartfelt message about standing by someone through anxiety, pressure, and difficult moments. With lyrics centered on reassurance and companionship, ILLIT aims to offer listeners warmth and comfort through its sincere vocals.

A short teaser released on the group’s official social media channels on July 17 immediately caught fans’ attention thanks to its catchy melody and emotional lyrics, including the comforting line, “You’re not alone.”

ILLIT’s Japan Tour Continues with Sold-Out Shows

Alongside the new music, ILLIT is currently meeting fans through its “ILLIT LIVE ‘PRESS START’ in JAPAN” tour.

The group kicked off performances at GLION Arena Kobe and will continue touring five cities across Japan.

The tour has already sold out, prompting organizers to open additional restricted-view and standing tickets in response to overwhelming demand.

With a new Japanese single, high-profile collaborators, and a sold-out tour, ILLIT continues to build strong momentum in one of the world’s biggest music markets.
